The predictions for KCMO tomorrow currently include snow pretty much all day long. Because of that we are going to postpone our first rehearsal until Tuesday February 13th.

Our music director Phil DeWalt has put together a selection of music. We will not play all of this for our first concert, but will pick selections from this set based on the feedback and skills of the musicians who come starting next week.

We are grateful to the Mandolin Cafe and Scott Tichenor for financial support for the Mandolin Orchestra of Kansas City as we begin our inaugural season in just over a week.

We will start eight weeks of rehearsals on Tuesday, February 6th. 7pm to 9pm on the second floor of Prospero's Books on 39th Street.

Membership for the initial half-season is $40, please bring cash or check to the first rehearsal you attend.

The specific pieces we play will be chosen after our first few rehearsals and will largely be based on the group that comes together.

In general we will be playing a wide variety of works spanning periods from the renaissance to the 21's century, equally varied stylistically from jazz, ragtime, classical and pop to several of the classics composed for mandolin orchestras.
